"And I'm a vestal virgin," Mena said with a playful eye roll. "All right, follow me out the kitchen so I can get my fur and boots." There was no way she was tramping (in all sorts of ways) through the snow without them.
Humming, she waved for him to follow her and ducked into the kitchen, grinned at Jerri, who sighed and put a mark under Mena's name on a suspiciously busy chalk board and watched while the strawberry blonde shoved her feet into winter boots and threw her hooded fur cape over her shoulders.
"Lets see how you navigate a snowbank, sailor," she said, bursting out into the cold winter air. A snowball whipped by her head and nearly got Jerri. She had forgotten about her younger cousins who were annihilating each other in a snowball fight out back.
