A myriad of emotions infused her next words, an attempt at humor, acceptance, and a touch of regret. "I am in exile. I dishonored not just myself, but my family, my betrothed, and his family. That's a lot of shamed people. I'd say it was the wild passions of youth that muddled my mind, but, in all honesty, I'd do it again. I'm only sorry for all the people I hurt along the way."
"These are the notes you missed." Taking over the lute, she played the chords again. A slow chuckle started until she bowed her head over the lute and laughed. Her eyes, when she craned her neck to look at him, were shiny with mirth. "Plus... your timing's off."
