She wanted to whisper in his ear that maybe they should procure several bottles of wine and head upstairs for some "private lute lessons," but the words did not come. Her mouth went dry and her heart pounded in anticipation.
Taking the goblet from his hands, she gulped down a little more wine before setting it back on the table. And then, her shyness returned and she couldn't possibly say such things. Besides, as much as she wanted him, she wanted him to make the next move.
Bringing her lute back into position, she drew and exhaled a shaky breath. It was hard to focus when all she wanted to think about was his mouth over hers and his gentle kiss upon her ear. Mercifully, she could give musical instructions in her sleep.
"So, um, let's see what you remembered from last time. The cords are..." The'ara showed him the notes to play before saying, "All right, now you try."
