A sharp pang tugged at her heart. The'ara didn't know how to respond. She sensed a tinge of sorrow, and maybe regret, to his words. He had never known anything else? Whatever bitter feelings she might have had toward Fate felt small in comparison. She had a thousand choices before her, and he, who was their messenger, had none.
Setting aside her drink, she unslung her lute from her shoulder. Her garnet eyes gleamed with tenderness. "Well, hobbies are nice. Can you play? Would you like to learn?"
She might not be able to save him from his predicament, but she could at least offer him a distraction. She came to stand behind him, to offer assistance in case he needed them and her raven hair brushed his cheek.
"I think I know just the song. It's pretty and not too difficult to play. It's one of my favorites, actually." The'ara smiled up at him prettily.
