She couldn't help it, Helen had to giggle at Ghet's sudden realisation. "Yes, now." She shook her head slightly, "Twins for my sins at that. Captain Assbutt isn't getting his hands anywhere near them, hence the pajama jump."
The strawberry blonde blinked for a moment. "That's... well, that's a relief." She smiled. "I mean, if nothing else, at least I'm not going to be shoved in a box somewhere. Well, not for being a mind-reader anyway." Helen was only half-kidding at that. "I keep thinking if I let my guard down, or I start looking around, I'm going to see him behind a corner or something."
The drugs were pretty much out of her system at this point, but that tenuous fear was stopping her from anything but the most perfunctory empathic scan around in the Inn, the one that had reassured her of the gentle, calming air around the place. Which was ridiculous considering she'd just jumped into situations unknown, but her head was pounding, and she was just so tired, physically and emotionally.
"It just occurred to me that I basically jumped into situations unknown and spilled my guts. I think my survival instinct needs work."
