"What you need to know about the Evernight forest is this. Don't wander off, not even to relieve yourself. Don't follow any strange lights or sounds. What you think you see and hear might not be what's actually there. And if you forget everything else, do not eat any food you see there. If you didn't bring it in, you leave it well enough alone." She sipped the remains of her coffee, a perfect end to her breakfast. "The fey live by their own rules. Anything you take has a price. Understood?"
When they'd finished their smokes, Zoroka came around. Stalking around Zig, she murmured,"I apologize in advance that this might be a bit awkward."
Without warning, a black leather garrote went around his neck. With a jerk and a pull backwards, she and Zig were gone in a flash of dark shadowy light.
