"Good to meet you, too, friendly stranger. Say, you want a jellybean?" Seravel again extended her bag of treats for him. Before she could stop him, her ferret--not weasel--jumped out of her bear backpack and leaped into the candy sack and darted off to enjoy his treat on her head. "BAD Mr. Squiggles!"
She went to grab him and he took off running down the front of her kimono and up into the Christmas tree. The clay creature on her shoulder squawked and flew after him. "Monk, no! BAD bizard!"
The tree rustled and shook, a few ornaments came crashing down before the clay miniature dragon chased the ferret up the stairs.
Seravel shook her head. "They'll be back." It was hard to say if it was a comfort or a complaint when she mumbled that. Picking out a few strands of loose fur, she again offered the bag. "There. Only slightly ferreted, but should be good as new. Jellybean?"
