Finally Marius looked at her, and there wasn't a hint of sadness or pain in his face, just a finely-honed indifference. "Yeah, well, things aren't different. What things are is the same. When I was with Foxx, that was different. From how I was before, and how she was. Obviously, different in a wrong sort of way, and now things are back the way they're supposed to be. The natural order."
He rolled his shoulders easily and something in his body language changed. More relaxed, and slightly predatory. "There's a kind of relief in it, you know. Giving in to destiny. What I was supposed to be was decided before I was born. Lines just got tangled for a bit there."
