Unaware she was doing it, Ghet turned her head to the side and kissed Y'Roden's neck. It was Helen she spoke to, though, given Rach a moment to pull herself together. "Ro and I soul-merged," she explained. "Everything he knows I know, and vice versa. You think that's disturbing, imagine being Galain or Silverthorn. It also means I have my own D'Riel conduit now, which is, coincidentally, great for blowing things up.
"We did just go up against a goddess, but then we had one on our side, too. And in the end we were pretty much no help at all. Vesta stole my daughter. We couldn't get near her - apparently if I get too close my brain will actually explode. In the end we... did a deal."
She turned her face to her husband, her expression sober. Her guilt over Anaya had resurfaced, and she wanted to help where she'd failed to help before. But given her weakness to psi talents, even she could see that going up against the Corporation ranked pretty high on her list of 'batskag crazy stuff to do'.
